Dare to Care Food Bank is honored to receive the support of numerous corporate partners committed to our mission of leading the community to feed the hungry and conquering the cycle of need. Local, national and global companies contribute hundreds of volunteer hours, thousands of dollars and millions of pounds of food to Dare to Care each year.

Partnering with Dare to Care positions your company as a leader in the fight against hunger and links your business to one of the community’s most reputable and well-respected charities. Corporate partners can also receive a variety of benefits including media exposure, co-branding, social media exposure, employee engagement and logo inclusion on our website and e-newsletters. Dare to Care Food Bank is an accredited charity of the Better Business Bureau and has been awarded a four-star rating by Charity Navigator.

Unrestricted Support

Committing to annual support is the best way you can help your community. This unrestricted donation allows Dare to Care leadership the flexibility to use your dollars where they are needed most.

Event Sponsorships

Sponsoring one of Dare to Care’s major events is a terrific opportunity for branding and exposure, as well as a unique employee engagement tool while also making an impact in the lives of families struggling with hunger. Sponsorship opportunities include annual events like the Hunger Walk, Taste of Derby Festival and 50^th Anniversary / Kitchen Expansion activities.

Program Sponsorships

Your company can provide targeted support for one or more of Dare to Care’s programs.  Programs include Backpack Buddy/School Pantry, Kids Cafe, Cooking Matters, Mobile Pantry, Prescriptive Pantry and others.  By supporting our programs, your business will receive positive exposure and have a significant and tangible impact on the community.

Corporate Volunteering

There may be no more effective way to help employees feel good about their company and themselves than by participating in a group volunteer opportunity. We are always looking for help sorting donated foods, packing backpacks for our Backpack Buddy program or a variety of other opportunities. Volunteering builds team spirit and saves Dare to Care valuable time and money that can then be spent on distributing more food.

Employee Giving / Matches

If your company has an employee giving campaign, it may be possible to designate Dare to Care specifically. Or you can have an independent Fund Drive all year-long or for a specific time frame. Please encourage your colleagues to consider supporting Dare to Care. And don’t forget about a company/corporate match, if that is available.  Matching gifts are a wonderful way for the employee and organization to fight hunger together.

A bequest in your will or Revocable trust, directing a specific dollar amount, certain assets, a percentage of your estate or trust, or the remainder of your estate, may be made to Dare to Care Food Bank, through the execution of your Will or Revocable Trust, or by a Codicil or Amendment to these documents

Suggested language for a bequest could be as follows:

For a specific bequest
“I hereby give and bequeath $ _____ or a _____ % from/of my estate to Dare to Care Food Bank, a Kentucky not-for-profit corporation, Louisville, Kentucky, for its general purposes or for a restricted gift as designated.”

For a remainder gift
 “I give and bequeath all (or _____ %) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to Dare to Care Food Bank, a Kentucky not-for-profit corporation, Louisville, Kentucky, for its general purposes or for a restricted gift as designated.”

Retirement Plans
Dare to Care Food Bank may accept the proceeds as a designated beneficiary (primary or contingent) of a deferred annuity contract, IRA, defined benefit plan, 401(k) plan, profit-sharing plan or other qualified retirement account.  

Life Insurance
Dare to Care Food Bank will accept gifts of life insurance where it is named as both beneficiary and irrevocable owner of the insurance policy. The gift will be valued at its interpolated terminal reserve value or cash surrender value, upon receipt. If a donor contributes future premium payments, Dare to Care Food Bank will include the entire amount of additional premium payments as a gift, in the year it is made.

Trusts
Dare to Care Food Bank can be named as the recipient of proceeds from a donor’s trust. Two types of trusts, which can be utilized for planned giving purposes, include a Charitable Remainder Trust and a Charitable Lead Trust.

Charitable Remainder Trust
A charitable remainder trust is established by an irrevocable gift to a trustee, made during the donor’s lifetime or upon the donor’s death.

The primary feature of a charitable remainder trust is it provides for periodic payments of a fixed percentage (not less than 5%) of the value of the trust assets to the donor and/or another person specified by the donor, for life or a specified term of years (not to exceed 20), after which the trust assets pass to Dare to Care Food Bank.

Charitable Lead Trust
A charitable lead trust is a trust from which the income or “lead” interest is paid to Dare to Care Food Bank for a set number of years (not to exceed 20), after which the remaining trust assets pass to one or more non-charitable beneficiaries, designated by the donor.
