Announcement
WASHINGTON, April 7, 2018 – J.T.M. Provisions, Co., a Harrison, Ohio establishment, is recalling approximately 14,525 pounds of fully cooked not shelf stable pulled barbequed beef products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically rubber, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The pulled barbequed beef products were produced on Sep. 23, 2017. The following products are subject to recall: [View Label(PDF only)]
- 14-oz. sealed plastic tray covered with a paper sleeve containing pulled (shredded) barbequed beef labeled “Bar-B-Q Sauce With Pulled Beef” with Julian pack date 17266 printed on the label.
The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 1917” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio.
The problem was discovered after the company received two consumer complaints regarding extraneous material contamination.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
FSIS is concerned that some product may be frozen and in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
Consumers and members of the media with questions about the recall can contact Joe Maas, Vice President of J.T.M. Provisions Company, at (800) 626-2308.
