Host a Food/Fund Drive

Make a difference today by hosting a drive!

Fund Drives

Hosting an online fund drive is a great way to support Dare to Care’s mission and provide healthy meals for our neighbors! Monetary donations help us leverage our incredible purchasing power and allow us to use our resources most effectively. Every dollar donated allows Dare to Care to provide 2 meals for our neighbors.

Fund drives are a low stress way to fight hunger—no grocery lists or heavy boxes involved. Invite your friends, family, and colleagues to make a difference today by signing up for a fund drive.

Food Drives

Food drives are a meaningful way to support our neighbors, and we are grateful for every item we receive! While fund drives allow us to stretch each dollar further and meet the most urgent needs, we’re happy to support individuals and groups who prefer to host a traditional food drive.

Food drive boxes are available at our warehouse located at 5803 Fern Valley Road, Louisville KY 40228 Monday-Thursday from 8:30am-12pm and 12:30pm-2pm. Food donations must also be dropped off during these times. Please note that we consider food drive box pick-up and donation drop-off as part of your donation, and we are extremely grateful for it! Please see our FAQ for more information.

When you sign up for a food drive, you will also receive a fundraising page for your drive that you are welcome to use!

Food/Fund Drive FAQS

Should I host a food drive or fund drive?

While funds have the most immediate impact for our neighbors, food donations are appreciated and welcome. We want each person that chooses to donate to Dare to Care to know that they are having a positive impact in our community! Groups can collect funds or food, or both.

Why are funds more impactful than food donations?

Thanks to our partnerships in the food industry, Dare to Care is able to purchase large quantities of food at a discounted rate. Monetary donations allow us to purchase exactly what our community needs, such as fresh produce, meat, and other refrigerated and frozen
items.

To truly address hunger in our community, it will take more than just food distribution. Fund drives support the range of programs and advocacy we undertake to end hunger today and for good, including advocacy, education and more.

How do I host a fund drive?

It’s easy! Once you sign up through our website, you will have your own fundraising page. You can customize your page and share with others through a link or QR code. We accept donations through credit cards, PayPal, Venmo, and checks. Check donations can be sent
to Dare to Care Food Bank, P.O. Box 35458, Louisville, KY 40232, and we will process them for you. Just make sure to let us know which team drive to apply your gift to!

How do I get a receipt for my monetary donation?

Individuals who donate online will receive an automated receipt via email. Individuals who send monetary donations to Dare to Care Food Bank will receive a receipt by mail.

If I choose to do a food drive, when can I drop off my donation?

You can collect food items in your own boxes or pick up Dare to Care boxes at our main warehouse on Fern Valley Road between 8:30am-12pm and 12:30pm – 2:30pm Monday through Thursday. Boxes should be durable and a reasonable size so we can sort the donated food when delivered to Dare to Care.
