The South Louisville Community Ministries (SLCM) is seeking experienced and well-qualified candidates for the position of Executive Director. SLCM, a non-profit serving individuals and families in South Louisville since 1974, provides emergency financial assistance for rent, utilities and medicine, administers a food pantry in partnership with Dare-to-Care, and provides for over 70 homebound seniors through Meals on Wheels. This is a full-time position reporting to the SLCM Board of Directors. The Executive Director will have managerial responsibility for a paid staff of up to ten, a volunteer staff of over one hundred and a budget of approximately $450,000.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated strengths in the following areas:
Ø Collaborates with Board of Directors to ensure the implementation of SLCM’s strategic plan while ensuring that the budget, staff and service priorities of the agency are aligned with SLCM’s core values and mission.
Ø While using best management practices, will proactively provide day-to-day leadership and direction to SLCM’s supervisors, staff and volunteers.
Ø Grant writing and management.
Ø Responsible for the facilitation and management of a sustainable and successful Annual Fund/Fund Development and special events/fundraising plan that reflects and meets short and long term funding needs of the agency.
Ø Skill in the human resource management areas of, including but not limited to, hiring, counseling, performance reviews and staff development and training.
Ø Financial responsibility for budget development and management.
Ø Strong communication and coordination skills to effectively leverage resources of various partners, including local government agencies, churches, the business community and individuals.
Ø Manages the agency’s public relations including all internal and external communications ultimately ensuring that consistent marketing, branding and development strategies are utilized.
The successful candidate will have:
Ø A BA/BS from an accredited university, master’s degree preferred,
Ø Minimally four years of experience in supervising/managing/directing a small to mid-size non-profit agency, or demonstrated leadership experience serving on the Board of Directors of non-profit agencies,
Ø Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills to deal with a wide range of constituents, including city leaders, donors, volunteers and clients,
Ø The ability to utilize these communication skills to build partnerships with donors, churches, external agencies, and other funding sources,
Ø Basic budgetary/bookkeeping abilities,
Ø Grant writing and management experience,
Ø Demonstrated success in the area of fund development,
Ø The ability to attract, train and work closely with volunteers,
Ø Proficient computer skills, and
Ø Bi-lingual skills and experience working with ethnically diverse, dis-enfranchised populations in a community setting desirable.
