This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Kitchen, whish is located at 1611 Spring Street in Jeffersonville. In operation since, 1989, the Kitchen, which is an independent non-profit organization, provides a hot lunch 5 days a week, to anyone in need. Last year, we provided over 46,000 meals to help reduce hunger among homeless and other less fortunate fellow neighbors.
This position is responsible for the procurement, storage and preparation of food, the recruitment and training of approximately 100 volunteers, and providing a safe and clean environment for our members and guests. Directly reporting to the Operations Director is a Coordinator of Food Procurement and a Coordinator of Volunteer Services.
The Operations Director will also interface with the appropriate governmental and health related agencies to ensure that all regulations are properly implements and followed. Since the Community Kitchen is a Dare to Care outlet, this position is also the main liaison with the food bank.
This is a great opportunity for someone to make a significant impact on reducing hunger in our community. Someone with the ability to manage al all-volunteer organization; who possesses good communication and motivational skills; who has the ability to manage diverse obligations within broad guidelines would the ideal candidate for this position. We estimate that the time commitment would be 15-20 hours per week.
